About Our School
Philosophy
Nelephant operates under the Montessori philosophy of a child centered environment conducive to personal, intellectual, verbal, physical and social growth.
There is a profound respect for the child, and their commanding need to learn by doing. The teachers work with each child individually and guide them according to their individual requirements.
Facilities
Nelephant is located at 134 Louth Street in St. Catharines. Our facilities have 2 classrooms, each accommodating 24 children. Supplementing the program is music and French instruction, various field trips and outdoor activities.
Days and Hours of Operation
There is a choice of two classes offered 5 days per week. The morning class operates between 8:45 - 11:45 a.m. and the afternoon class from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. There is also a full day option for our 4 and 5 year olds. The school operates from September to June and follows the calendar of the District School Board of Niagara.
School Organization
Nelephant is an incorporated parent cooperative and a member of the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators. It is managed by a Board of Directors elected by the parent body. Parents help with running the school by serving on at least two committees.
